Jackals are a type of canine, animals that are related to dogs, coyotes, foxes and wolves. They look like a cross between a German shepherd and a fox. They have the fox’s small face, delicate legs and fluffy tail, with the German shepherd’s long, alert ears. There are three species of jackal. Jackals are often both diurnal and nocturnal. This means that they are active during dawn, dusk and night. As omnivores, jackals like to eat both meat and vegetation. Their diet consists of leftovers from other animals’ kills, ground-dwelling birds, reptiles, antelopes, fruits, insects, berries and grass. They’re not picky, though! Each jackal family has their own yipping sound that only members of their own family respond to.

One of the big cats, jaguar’s are solitary animals, usually hunting at night, they often drag their food up trees for safe keeping, they love to swim and roam the rainforests of Central and South America. The jaguar is the 3rd largest of the big cats after the tiger and the lion and it is the largest of all the big cats in the Americas. With its spotted coat the jaguar most closely resembles the leopard which is found in Asia and Africa, however, the jaguar is larger and has a stockier build than the leopard, it also has less but bigger rosettes (spots) with small dots in the middle. 3. White-spotted jellyfish
White-spotted jellies are one species you don’t have to fear. The mild venom isn’t a problem for humans. These filter feeders are more focused on minuscule zooplankton, and an individual can filter as much as 13,000 gallons of water a day in its quest for a meal. The downside of this is a swarm of white-spotted jellies can clear an area of zooplankton, leaving none for the fish and crustaceans that also make a meal of the microscopic critters. In areas where they are considered an invasive species, such as the Gulf of California, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, their voracious appetite poses a problem for native species from corals to shrimp.
