There’s a faction of fans very upset about the prospect of Y&R pairing Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). And it’s all about what went down years ago in Myanmar. Do you remember?

While Billy was out galivanting and avoiding his responsibilities in Genoa City, he crossed paths with Chelsea. Back then on The Young and the Restless, she was a ruthless con woman. Her mom, Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach) trained her well.

So, Chelsea drugged Billy and had sex with him. And there’s no way to say it any other way, but it was rape. It wasn’t even date rape. It was just rape. He was zoned out of his gourd and had no idea they’d slept together.

She also got a payoff by the local dirty cops when they arrested Billy on trumped-up charges. Fast forward a few months, and she turned up in GC pregnant, slinging accusations that he was the one who raped her!

So, many Young and the Restless fans have a real problem with them setting up a romance between him and his rapist. Despite fan outcry, that’s exactly where it’s heading this week.

Billy Gets a First Date on Y&R

Ever since Chelsea Lawson tried to kill herself, Billy Abbott’s been glued to her side. First, he talked her down off the ledge (literally). And since then, he’s been a one-man support system for her. Even before that, he was in her orbit, though.

Billy was her champion when she wanted to get to know her biological son Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind), over Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) objections. Now, her ex is spending time with Chelsea, Johnny, and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).

Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) no fan of this arrangement on Young and the Restless. But Billy’s not backing down. The guy’s even helping Connor with school projects. And ever since he and Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) split, he’s been hanging with Chelsea.

This week, though, they take it to another level. Billy Abbott wants a dinner date with Chelsea Lawson, without the kids as a buffer. And she agrees. But is this the start of a new romance or a slippery slope to trouble?

Chelsea Sends Mixed Signals on The Young and the Restless

Although they head out on a date on an upcoming Y&R episode, things are awkward. Billy’s fresh off a break-up and Chelsea’s fresh off a mental health spiral. It seems like bad timing and an all-around bad idea for them to date.

Plus. there’s bound to be loads of people opposed to it on Young and the Restless. Already, both Adam and Victoria are on high alert about their two exes playing house with their two sons.

And Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) might chew out her BFF too. But if there’s trouble to be had, Billy Boy usually finds it. And Chelsea’s the same. Y&R spoilers for the end of this week say that she sends mixed signals on their date.

It seems like a terrible idea for these two to get involved given their history and recent events. But that might not stop them. Plus, there’s fan outrage over this pairing. But not every viewer hates the idea.

And the CBS soap opera’s writers don’t seem to care about fan opinion too much… Already Vikki’s angsty about Johnny getting too close to his birth mother. So, his biological parents sparking a romance might send her off the deep end on Young and Restless.

Plus, Adam and some other Newmans might protest these two dating on Y&R. But that might not stop them if Billy Abbott and Chelsea Lawson really want this romance to happen. What do you think about them getting together?
